7-Day Anxiety Reset with God · Day 1 of 7

Day 1: Pause the Spiral

“Be still, and know that I am God.”

— Psalm 46:10

Anxiety has its own momentum. Left unchecked, one worried thought connects to the next, and before long you're carrying the weight of every possible outcome — past, present, and future. The spiral moves fast. It rarely stops on its own.

This is why the first invitation in the journey back to peace is deceptively simple: be still. Not "fix it." Not "figure it out." Just stop.

The Hebrew word behind "be still" is raphah — meaning to let go, to release, to cease striving. It is the image of a hand that has been gripping something too tightly, finally opening. Not in defeat, but in trust.

And notice what comes next: know that I am God. The knowing here is not an intellectual exercise. It is an experiential recognition — when you stop the motion of anxiety, even briefly, something becomes available. The awareness that you are not alone. That the One who holds all things is present in this moment, not just in the moment after you feel better.

God is not asking you to resolve the anxiety before you come to Him. He is not asking you to perform calm. He is simply saying: stop. For a moment. Let the spiral slow. And in that pause, let the awareness of His presence be what your heart finds.

You do not have to resolve the anxiety before coming to God. You do not have to feel better first. The invitation is to pause — right now, in the middle of the spiral — and let the awareness of God's presence interrupt the momentum. That interruption is the beginning of peace.

Set a timer for 3 minutes. Close your eyes. Breathe slowly. Every time an anxious thought arises, gently say: "Be still." Don't push the thought away — just let it pass without following it. At the end of 3 minutes, read the verse aloud once. Notice what has shifted, even slightly.

Father, the spiral is loud and my thoughts are fast. I choose to stop right now — not because everything is resolved, but because You are here. Be still, You say. So I am still. I open my hands. I release my grip. Let me know, in this moment of stillness, that You are God. That is enough for today. Amen. 🤍

What is one specific thing driving your anxiety right now? Name it — don't analyze it, just name it.

You completed Day 1. You're growing in peace. 🤌
